На сегодняшний день число PoS-криптовалют равняется нескольким десяткам. К примеру, владелец пополняет счет на 100 монет, всего же в системе присутствует 1000 монет. Таким образом, у него становится 130 монет при общей эмиссии в 1300 монет. Они должны лежать и быть использованы при подтверждении транзакций, за что и можно получить доход.

В основе PoW лежит решение сложных математических задач, требующих значительных вычислительных ресурсов. Этот метод был предложен Сатоши Накамото в 2008 году и стал основой для первой криптовалюты — Биткоина. Дефляция в случае с криптовалютами означает снижение предложения активов.

Однако ни один блокчейн стоимостью в десятки миллиардов долларов не использует механизм, к которому продвигается ETH. Вдобавок сам факт перехода с PoW на Pos несет огромные риски для действующей сети. Консенсус – это процесс, в ходе которого группа узлов сети определяет, какие транзакции в блокчейне действительны, а какие нет. В любой блокчейн-сети передаются два основных типа сообщений — транзакции и блоки.

Одним из самых значительных событий в истории PoS стал переход Ethereum с PoW на PoS в сентябре 2022 года. Этот апгрейд, известный как “The Merge”, представлял собой крупный шаг к более устойчивой структуре одной из крупнейших блокчейн-сетей, сократив энергопотребление Ethereum на предполагаемые 99%. Difficulty_bits определяет сложность задачи (чем выше значение, тем сложнее найти подходящий хеш). Однако её наиболее известное применение было реализовано в 2009 году с запуском сети Bitcoin, где PoW использовался для достижения консенсуса в децентрализованной сети и для защиты от двойной траты.

А награда распределяется пропорционально количеству завалидированных блоков. Для некоторых криптовалют стейкинг может потребовать крупных вложений. А также возможность сдавать монеты в аренду держателям крупных сумм, получая процесс от стейкинга. Она позволяет подтверждать транзакции при помощи крупных сумм монеты, сосредоточенных у одного держателя.

Однако, с целью улучшения масштабируемости и снижения энергопотребления, Ethereum переходит на протокол PoS в рамках обновления Ethereum 2.0. В новом протоколе валидаторы будут выбирать случайным образом на основе количества поставленной криптовалюты, что обеспечит более эффективную и экологически чистую работу сети. В случае биткойна эти узлы называют майнерами, поскольку они вознаграждаются за майнинг генерацией новых порций криптовалюты. Именно майнеры биткоина формируют его блокчейн, постоянно группируя входящие транзакции в блоки и распространяя их по сети.

Таким образом, появления PoS способно разрешить проблему повышения сложности и энергозатратности обычного майнинга, а также открыло большой простор для действий инвесторов. Как считают специалисты, вполне возможна ситуация, когда группа крупных нод (узлов, которые отвечают за валидацию транзакций) осуществит сговор с целью изменения начальных правил. В теории им под силу и вовсе заполучить владение над всеми монетами, просто реализовав подобную транзакцию. Особенность заключается в том, что для изменений в блокчейне многих PoS-криптовалют осуществляется голосование пользователей. И чем больше доля владения у человека, тем больший вес у его голоса. К примеру, для валидации блоков иногда необходима отправка сообщений внутри системы – за это взымается плата.

Чем больше у вас криптовалюты, тем больше вероятность, что вы будете выбраны для создания нового блока. Это событие стало началом обновления крупнейшего блокчейна после Биткоина, которое многие аналитики называют самым масштабным апдейтом в мире криптовалют. Для этого десятки тысяч пользователей сети отправили более 790 тысяч эфиров в специальный депозитный контракт. При этом получить свои монеты обратно не получится ещё как минимум год, а доходность валидаторов будет составлять около 17 процентов годовых. В августе 2022 года планируется переход блокчейна Ethereum на алгоритм майнинга Proof-of-Stake (PoS). Это будет означать прекращение добычи ETH посредством майнинга по алгоритму Proof-of-Work (PoW).

Но оба рассмотренных механизма имеют как свои плюсы и минусы, поэтому постоянно появляются и другие версии. Например, существует модификация механизма консенсуса PoS, в которой происходит делегирование доли (Delegated Proof of Stake). Такая система опирается на голосование на основе репутации для достижения консенсуса. Пользователи сети «голосуют» за выбор валидаторов из некоего определённого перечня надёжных узлов. Узлы консенсуса в таких сетях называют валидаторы (вместо майнеров), а сам процесс нахождения консенсуса – стейкингом (вместо майнинга).

Она подразумевает блокировку цифровых активов в кошельках или на смарт-контрактах сетей. Механизм консенсуса — это процесс, с помощью которого участники сети приходят к соглашению о состоянии блокчейна. Разные протоколы используют различные механизмы консенсуса, чтобы обеспечить безопасность и целостность сети. Например, PoW использует вычислительную мощность, а PoS — количество поставленной криптовалюты.

Поскольку его цены в значительной степени повторяют цены более широкого криптовалютного рынка, ADA может стать отличным вариантом для долгосрочных ставок. Хотя в 2021 году Cardano добился значительных успехов, уже довольно долгое время он находится в медвежьих тисках.
